This
is the largest state in Australia
for land mass however most is desert. It has a population of approximately
2million people with 1.5 million residing in the capital city of Perth. The majority of
the remaining 500,000 people reside in the south west of the state. The state
is renowned for mineral resources which form the majority of Australia’s
export revenue. It also has thousands of kilometres of coastline which is
largely uninhabited and is washed by some of the cleanest ocean waters in the
world. Over 80% of the population in Western
Australia live within 20 kilometres of the ocean.
This state is tipped to be the second fastest growing state behind Queensland over the next
30 years. Its climate ranges form tropical in the north, to subtropical in the
mid west to a temperate climate in the south west. The south west has a cool
wet winter with a hot and dry summer.
